Playboy reviews UK sales displays
By Duncan Bartlett
BBC News, business reporter, Brussels

Playboy has always claimed to be more than a pornographic magazine

Playboy has said it will review how its products are sold in the UK after one retailer placed its branded stationery near merchandise for children.

The shop display prompted an angry reaction from the Reverend Tim Jones, who pulled it down and complained the firm was selling directly to children.

Playboy Enterprises said goods bearing its famous bunny logo were aimed primarily at 18 to 34 year olds.

Playboy said it was surprised the goods were "inappropriately positioned".

Mr Jones says his protest at a branch of Stationery Box in York was prompted by anger at finding Playboy goods next to items bearing pictures of Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh.

He said it was "wicked" to groom children for their commercial exploitation by the sex industry.

Playboy said: "We will be reviewing this situation immediately."

"We clearly did not authorise, nor approve, the placement of our product next to well-known children's characters," it added.

'Urban, trendy'

Playboy was founded in 1953 by the American entrepreneur Hugh Hefner. It is best known as a magazine, featuring pictures of naked women.

Playboy's boss Christie Hefner, daughter of the founder, said that her company has been targeting females rather than children, and that 80% of the people who buy the firm's branded goods were women.
They are normalising pornography by making their brand a household name
Beatriz Concejo, Object

Under her leadership, goods bearing the bunny logo - a rabbit's head wearing a bow tie - can be found on everything from pillow cases to dustbins.

"Our products represent a brand that is urban, trendy, stylish and sophisticated," she told the BBC.

Gareth Pitman who teaches branding at the University College of the Creative Arts said Playboy had been clever in how they had used their image.

"They have looked at the positives in their imagery and played along with that, particularly the aspirational aspects of a Playboy lifestyle," he said.

"There will be people who are shocked but I do not think the company will be too worried if it cannot convert them."

'R-rated movie'

Not everyone agrees and for some observers the company and its logo represents little other than a firm which profits from pornography.

While branded goods make up a chunk of its earnings, most of Playboy's other income comes from broadcasting, including adult pay TV channels with explicit content.

"By making their brand acceptable they're making everything they do acceptable, including the pornography they promote through their TV channels," said Beatriz Concejo from the pressure group Object.

"They are normalising pornography by making their brand a household name."

Playboy is used to criticism and claims that its is simply giving consumers a choice.

"We all understand that young people, both young women and young men, aspire to grow up and I am sure that there are young women who would love to wear Playboy merchandise," said Playboy boss Ms Hefner.

"Whether they should or not is up to their parents to decide, in much the same the way parents have to decide whether someone who is a minor is ready and mature enough to see an R-rated movie."

Web Publishing Guide for the Beginning Entrepreneur (Part 1)

Web Publishing Guide for the Beginning Entrepreneur (Part 1)

The best things don't come easy. - Quoted

The finished web pages in your hands could be likened to a painting by Michelangelo without the Sistine Chapel. In your case, the Sistine Chapel would be the web server to host your web site masterpiece.

This is the first part of a series of articles touching on various aspects of publishing on the web. In this edition, we will dwell on the aspect of domain name and web hosting.

Domain Name
First, you need to register your domain name. FYI, a domain name is the location of your web site on the Internet, just like http://www.internetmarketinglearningcenter.com.

You should have your own domain name if you envision yourself to be a successful Internet entrepreneur. BTW, the domain name you have registered with some free hosting services is not too professional to be used for your business operation. Unless you are on some form of an experiment, get your own domain name. The cost of getting one has considerably gone down than say five or two years ago.

People would take your product or service seriously if you do have your own domain name. There are a host of domain name registrars out on the Net for you to choose from.

Before you go out and register your domain name, check it out first if the domain name you are planning to register is still available. There are a number of free services to check the names of registered domain names on the web.

If you check my web site you will find a listing of better domain name checkers. It will save you a lot of time. Some of these free services offer domain name registration - for a fee, of course.

Web Hosting
After you have decided on - and subsequently registered - your domain name, the next big task is for you to find a host server to which your domain name will be pointing to.

The choice of your web site host is crucial enough to be left to guesswork. For one, a downtime in your host's server will severely impact your online operation. The profit returns of your business will be at stake.

Tip: You often come across an advertisement that says: "We guarantee 99.9% uptime." Come to think of it, a 0.1% downtime translates close to 9 hours within a year that your web site can not be accessed by your clients. Can you afford this? My advice is for you to do your math if a web host is giving you this type of advert.

Web Hosting Checklist
The following checklist will help you select a reliable and efficient web site host:

- Does it offer 24/7 technical support?
- Does it have a reliable performance record? (Go for the near zero per cent server downtime)
- Does it offer a fast connection speed?
- Does it offer a quick and easy access to your log files?
- Are CGI scripts allowed for your package?
- Is autoresponder services being offered?

Web Server Categories
There are three types of web hosting services you can categorize web servers. List down these three categories and put under the appropriate item the name of the web host you are evaluating. Two things worth checking are pricing and performance record of the web host.

Offhand, a web host could fall into three types, namely, cheap web hosting, affordable web hosting, and free web servers. For reasons already discussed above, you have to opt out the free web hosting type, if you want to make serious your Internet business venture.

My web site at http://www.internetmarketinglearningcenter.com conducted a study on the cheap and affordable web hosting services. You may want to check it out yourself. It may save you time.

Tip: You can get cheap web hosting for as low as $0.50 a month. Some web hosts claim to offer free web hosting if you register your domain name with them. Check this out very carefully because the cost of the web hosting may already be added to the cost of the domain name registration. See if the cost of domain name registration is high compared to the web host's competitors. Also check out the performance record of the web host.

Uploading Web Files to the Server
After you have registered your domain name and signed a web host, the next big task is uploading your files to the host's server. The popular and traditional way of transferring files to your web host's server is via an FTP program (for Windows) and Fetch (for Macintosh). If you belong to the 95 per cent of the computing population (i.e., Windows based), the best FTP program for you is still the WS-FTP software. You can download if for free from the web.

Most web hosts offer control panels where you can directly browse your file source and upload the files to the server. In this case, there's no need for you to use an FTP program.

Tip: Some web hosts offer state of the art control panels. Others have amateurish control panels. You have to choose between simplicity and time-consuming operation. My advice is for you to choose the easy to operate panel that offers hassle-free transferring of files.

Creating Your First Website? Your Options - Web-Design

Creating Your First Website? Your Options

Creating your own website is great fun! But how is it done? Well, there
are five main options, read this carefully and choose which one you think
is best for you!

Use software you already have:

You may not know this, but you can actually use Microsoft Word to create
webpages! This is great, since you can save yourself the cost of buying
expensive new software. Just create your document as you would do
normally, and then just select "Save As" from the File menu. A new window
will open, choose where you want to save your page, give it a name and
then select "Webpage" from the drop- down box next to "Save As Type".
Click save and thats it - you have a webpage ready to be uploaded to your
host's servers! For more information, check out this simple tutorial on
creating webpages with Word.

The downside is that since Word isn't really a proper webdesign
application, you'll find it impossible to create anything like a
"professional" site, but if you only need something very simple, it'll do
just fine. Also, the quality of code that Word produces is very poor, so
unless your website is reasonably plain, it will be slow to load.

Use an Online Sitebuilder:

There are number of website on the internet which give you all the tools
you need to build and host your website ready to use in one place. For a
beginner these sites are great, since they're aimed at people wanting a
quick, easy way to build a website without spending ages learning all the
technical ins and outs. Most of them offer a large range of "template"
designs along with a simple "what-you-see-is-what-you- get" editor with
which you can personalise the design with your own logos and content. Once
you're done personalising, just click save and the site is ready and
online - easy. You can also update your website whenever you want as well,
and since the fees are on a low monthly subscription basis you can avoid
paying the heavy upfront costs that you would have if you hired a designer
or bought specialist software. However, some of them run ads on your
website and only offer a limited range of advanced features; which may be
frustrating to more advanced users. We strongly recommend you try 2Clicks
(see link below), they have a great range of templates and features, don't
run ads on your site and offer excellent value for money.

Buy specialist web design software:

There are a number of specialist web design applications which are used by
the professionals to create their websites. By far the best (in my humble
opinion) is Macromedia's Dreamweaver. These powerful software packages
install on your computer and run offline like any of the office
applications. Since they're specially designed for website building, the
range of features and functions is very impressive and allow you to do
just about anything you could want with much greater ease and simplicity
that if you are trying to work with something like Word. However, they
don't come cheap; last time I checked, Dreamweaver cost something like
$400. Also, since they're not aimed at beginners, you may find them a
little complicated to start with. But if you're planning on creating and
managing several websites then this could be an option worth considering.

Hire a professional web designer:

Sure hiring a professional isn't the cheap option, but it is almost
certainly the surest way to get a really high-quality result (unless of
course you hire a really bad designer of course!). But how to choose
someone? Well I would recommend that you choose someone reasonably local.
Offshoring is great, but it makes the job of monitoring their progress a
lot more difficult, and there's nothing quite like having someone you can
meet with face to face to discuss the project, or who's there for you on
the end of the phone when you need help. It also makes organising payments
more simple as well as holding them responsible if it all goes wrong!
Always check someone's portfolio carefully. Have they done projects like
yours in the past, and would you be happy to recieve a site like their
previous ones if you hired them? Ask your friends if they can recommend
someone.

Deciding how much you are prepared to pay for a professional is a
difficult question. Everyone offers a different level of service, and the
quality of the final product will vary significalty depending on who you
hire. Whatever you do; get multiple quotes!! And compare them on price,
quality and service. I would also strongly advice against choosing the
cheapest person/company automatically - it could prove to be a very false
economy in the long term!

Learn to program in html:

Since most pages are written in a code/language called HTML, you can
create your own websites by directly writting in this language. Its
certainly a lot easier than learning Russian, but it will take a good week
at least to get to grips even just the very basics. Assuming you enjoy
technical challenges! A good book can be a great help.

If you are really serious about building websites like a pro, learning to
hard code websites directly in html is an option worth considering. That
said, many professional webdesigners don't know much about hard coding
html themselves - with professional software like dreamweaver there isn't
too much need for it. However, learning to program in html is definitely
the cheapest way to build your own website, plus it can be a great
learning experience!

To code in html all you need software-wise is a simple piece of software
like notepad, which comes free with windows. You literally just type the
code into a new notepad document, click save, upload it to a webserver and
thats it! If you're looking for a good html tutorial, check out the NCSA
beginner's guide to HTML.

Creating a Favicon - Web-Design

Creating a Favicon

Once, I attempted to create a favicon (the little graphic in the URL
address box) for this Web site, but never did finish the work until now. I
used a free program that allowed me to copy and paste an image to create
an icon, but I believe it has spyware so I won't share its name. There are
many icon creators out there.

In Photoshop (or whatever drawing program you have), I created a 16x16
pixel workspace. Added what I wanted in the icon (never could come up with
a logo for the site, so I stuck with the m), select all (CTRL+A), copy
(CTRL+C), and pasted it into the suspicious program. There, I saved it as
"favicon.ico" and uploaded the file to my server.

It won't work yet. First, add a line to the of the index page. Here's the
line to add using XHTML standard formatting (if you're using HTML, leave
off the / at the end of the line):

Quality Website Design At An Affordable Price - Web-Design

Quality Website Design At An Affordable Price

I always have people asking me if I know of anybody who can build them a
website which is affordable but also professional looking. They want the
website to be search engine friendly, there is no point in having a
website if no one can see it, and fully optimised.

I am sure there are many people looking for something similar. In my
opinion you should not have to spend a lot of money for such a service.

With such a lot of people now offering web design and optimisation
services in the UK, there are bound to be some good deals to be found. In
reality you should be able to have your website built for between £50 and
£100.

The question is where do you find these great deals?

These are the areas I would try:

search engines such as Google

internet auction websites such as ebay

yellow pages

newspaper advertisements

shop window advertisements

asking family and friends

If you are willing to spend a bit of time, making lots of phone calls and
sending lots of e-mails you will soon find the right web design quote.

It is not just the cost that is important however. There is no point
accepting a quote of £20 per website if the site will be of poor quality
and not search engine friendly. It is therefore advisable to look at the
person or companies portfolio and see if you like their previous work. I
always look to see the page rank of the sites they have previously built
and run a few searches on the key phrases relevant to each website.

Learn the Truth about Your Web Design Company by Its Portfolio - Web-Design

Learn the Truth about Your Web Design Company by Its Portfolio

When you start building your online business and search for a web design
company that will implement all your needs for the web site you must
understand that it is a very serious step because you are entrusting your
business along with its reputation and future.

That's why it's very important to make the right choice. There are several
factors that must define your choice, and one of them is portfolio of
previous web design works the company has done. It can tell you more than
all words and promises, just be attentive and try to analyze. I will tell
you what you must pay attention to:

1) Presence of portfolio

Yes, it seems to be obvious that web design company must have own web site
with portfolio of previous works. But don't be astonished too much when
you see one without it. There can be various reasons for this but I
wouldn't recommend you to tempt fate. Portfolio is like a "face" and it's
pride of web design company, it must be full, substantial, and routinely
updated?and IT MUST BE!

2) Total number of works

This can tell you much however there is no standard number that will
guarantee you are going to deal with web design guru. Yes, 50 successfully
finished projects is better than 5, but their quality is also important.
Compare the number with period of time during which the company operates
in the market and calculate average number of projects per year, month, or
week. Remember that average web site design takes 2-4 weeks to be finished.

What this information can give you? Firstly, you can see that the company
has got enough expertise. Then this shows that it has stable flow of
works, adjusted schedule of development process, and enough staff to
perform it, so if you commit your web site design to the company you can
be sure that the work won't be for them like a bolt from the blue or
well-paid but not feasible overloading.

3) Type of works

Look attentively at each work in the portfolio. How many projects are
similar to the one you need by type of site, technology used, industry,
and look and feel? At least 2-3? Good! More than 5? Excellent!! None?
There can be a reason for this - owner didn't want to make it published,
or web site is no more live - so if all other works show professionalism
and expertise, you should ask the company if they have ever done the task
you need.

If you need any particular technology to be used for your web site
implementation it's more than necessary to see examples how the web design
company worked with it. However sometimes it happens if the technology is
not common used and very popular that the web design company hasn't had
chance to work with it for commercial purpose but it might be used for
internal projects development, so you will loose nothing if ask the
company to show you some examples if they exist.

If you need a web site for exact business, for example dating site or real
estate site, it's also better to view such previous works in the portfolio
because there are can be specific features and it's better to make sure
that the web design company is experienced with them. Also some web design
companies make demo packages that also can show you the abilities and
experience.

4) Quality of works

Learn carefully each live site (or the ones which are similar to the site
you need). How long does it take to load the site home page? A few
seconds? Great, the web designer knows how to optimize images. A few
minutes? It's normal if this is a Flash site because usually the whole
site is loaded at one time, not only the home page; or it's a Flash intro
which goes ahead entering the site and also can load longer because of
movie and sound.

But if a simple HTML web site loads more than 2-3 minutes and you can't
see all images or they are shown partially, you must be watchful. Check
another HTML sites from the portfolio - if they are also loading for ages,
it's better to search for another web design company because this one is
not professional.

All of the aforesaid is correct only if bandwidth of your Internet
connection is normal and usually you don't have problems with loading web
sites.

Test the site for user-friendly navigation, pay attention to colors
combination, and estimate general impression from the site - all this must
reflect professional work. But sometimes a web design company is forced to
design a site strictly according to the customer's wishes, so if the
customer lacks for good taste the site also looks tasteless. There can one
or two such sites in the portfolio, but not all!

5) Happy owners

Web design business is a highly competitive area and as in any business
there are honest and dishonest players. Sometimes it happens that you see
the same site in portfolio of two different web design companies and it's
difficult to find the truth to which of them the work really belongs. Some
quirky companies place cheap templates in their portfolio with fake
owners' contact info.

That's why it's very important to know real references of real owners of
the web sites the web design company has made. Ideally this info must be
accessible on the web design company site under Portfolio, Testimonials,
or Clients sections. Try to contact ALL of the persons listed there and
compare their opinions. You may get to know some interesting facts.

6) Own site of web design company

And finally compare the own site of the web design company to web sites
presented in its portfolio. Are they similar by quality, technology used,
and overall feeling? If the works from the portfolio look much poorer than
the own site this can mean that the own site was ordered from another web
design company, more professional. Yes, it happens sometimes in web design
business that start-up amateur company commits its web site design to
"older" professionals. In such case you better to continue searching for
another web design company.

So these 6 rules can help you to make the right choice. Don't be afraid to
spend longer time for search and analysis, finally you will only benefit
by getting perfect web site that will give new prospects to your business
and make it more successful.

Web Design Advice And Information - Web-Design

Web Design Advice And Information

Most of us at times need advice on different aspects of life and the
thought of obtaining a website can be quite a daunting task for many
people. There are so many people offering cheap web design services,
therefore how do you know who to choose and what to look for.

In reality you should be able to find some great deals out there due to
the competitive nature of website design. You should be able to get a good
looking, search engine friendly website built for between £50 and £100.
The websites mentioned at the bottom of this article were designed and
uploaded for under £50!

Where do you find these web designers, willing to build a website for this
affordable price?

These are the places I would be looking:

internet search engines

yellow pages

asking family and friends

newspaper advertisements

shop window advertisements

internet auction websites such as ebay

When you have found a designer who is going to build your website, you
need to find the content for your website, choose colours and graphics and
think of the page titles for each page. The page titles could be the key
phrases people are likely to search for in your product area or even
better the niche phrases.

Once the website is built you then have to think about promoting your
website. Building up your backward links is becoming increasingly
important and will eventually lead to higher search engine positions and
therefore more traffic to your website.

Writing articles like the one you are reading is also of value as people
are able to use them for free on their website, thus creating you an
additional backward link.

If you would like to earn a little extra money from the website you could
try google adsense. These are ads that the search engine google will place
on your website. When a visitor clicks on the ad you earn money.

needs to be in it. You probably look at brochures from other vendors.

Why Not To Use Web Design Templates For Your Website
In today's age of fast food and high-speed Internet, a business may be
tempted to take the "more convenient" route in launching a website -
buying a template and customising it.Website design templates are like
off-the-shelf websites and are targeted at people who believe that
launching their own, unique and differentiated website is costly and time

We've all read the countless publications about effective web site design,

Good Web Design - What Is It?
There is unlimited possibilities when it comes to designing a website.
Flash, Database, content management, Client Login, etc, etc.
Using Server Side Includes to Simplify Your Web Design
An "include" file is a piece of code that can be put into a seperate file
-- for example -- your navigation bar -- and then "included" in a number
of other pages. This has the very useful advantage of allowing you to
retain consistency over a very large number of pages, and then make
changes to all of those pages by just changing the include file.
If Content is King who is Queen?
It's been said again and again, when it comes to getting people to visit
your site (and stay there for more than 5 seconds), the quality of your
content rules supreme. But once you've bowed to interest, saluted
relevance and kow-towed to originality, who else must you pay homage to
for recognition in the court of website stickiness? The two jewels in the
crown of Presentation, for it is of course Presentation who is Queen, are
structure and graphical design.
Are You A Bill Clinton Webmaster?
One of the most frequent questions I get asked about my ebook, Don't Get

many webmasters covering themselves up with makeshift fig leaves while
dangling upside down above the proverbial crocodile moat.
A Website Checklist
If you've just finished building your new website (or revamping your old
one), how can you be sure it's "ready for prime time"? Or maybe your

Because Web technologies, techniques and standards change so rapidly, even

Be Friendly to Search Engines - Web-Design

Be Friendly to Search Engines

The object of search engines is to give their visitors a list of web pages
relevant to the search words, in the order of relevance to the search
words. So what do they want from websites?

Relevance to a search:
The frequency of the search word on a web page is an indicator of its
relevance. If a web page contains the word ten times on the page, it is
ten times more relevant than a page which contains the word only once.

The position of the search word:
In the title tag.
This appears in your browser at the very top of the screen, above File,
Edit, View...

This tag is important to search engines as it is visible to the visitor,
and ostensibly sums up the purpose for the page. Other meta tags are
largely ignored by search engines.

In a heading.
This tag is very important to search engines as it is visible to the
visitor, and ostensibly sums up the purpose for the page. The size of the
heading does not matter. Take care not to have more that one such heading
on the home page. (Don't confuse the search engine).

In a link to another page.
In the HTML coding, such a link could be Whodickies. If "Whodickies" are
important enough to have a link to them, they are very relevant to a
visitor's search for whodickies.

In the body text.
Key words near the top and the bottom of the text are important. Certainly
many search results show the beginning and end of pages.

Proportion of the search words on the page.
The intensity of key words in relation to the total words in a page tells
a search engine if there is spamming. Experience has shown that if the key
words in a search make up more than 10% of the total web page the page is
marked down. Some experts say 5%.

Number of inside pages linking back to that web page.
The more inside pages linking back to the home page the more relevant the
home page appears to the search engine. A website with 30 pages must seem
to have more information than one with 3 pages.

Number of other websites linking to that web page.
A website with links from 20 other websites seems more popular than one
with links from only 2 other websites. The quality of such links has a
bearing. e.g. Links from other websites which display your key words are
better that links from websites without those words.

Number of articles published linking to that web page.
Many websites publish articles on many subjects. Check the formats
acceptable. Compose your article, then submit it.

Why do different search engines give different rankings to the same
website? Each search engine may give a different weight to each of the
factors above.

Why would a website lose or gain ranking position, without any change?
Search engines change their secret algorithms (formula of factor
weighting) from time to time. Other websites may enter the lists, change,
or leave the lists.

Remember that the main reason for putting up a website it to be found by
search engines, so do all you can to be friendly to them.

Do Your Website Yourself - 4 Simple Steps to Get Your Dreams on the Web

Many people hire professional web site designers for as much as a thousand

hundredth of that price, and probably in half the time. Here are 4 easy
steps to get you started.

This will probably take longer than you imagine, so I always like to start
here. Googling "web host" itself pops up over 70 million results and
includes many, many advertisements. Ask around, find forums, and rely on
your feelings to find a host that you feel has the best quality for price
(bang for your buck). Normally around $10 to $15 a month is a reasonable
price (with no perks added). In addition, you should make sure that they
can handle your needs (do you need a MySQL database, PHP, ASP, ColdFusion,
etc.) with no additional charges added for standard options.

If the host that you are using is a quality host, they should allow you to
register a domain name on their site (or they will refer you to one of
their partner sites). Which leads us into..

2. Create a Domain Name

What is your web site going to be about? Try to come up with a short list
of specific keywords that relates to your web site's theme. Many web sites
that let you register domains offer a tool to find available web site
domains based on your list of keywords. Some qualities of a good domain
name are: short, rememberable, easy to type, on topic with your site, and
preferablely .com (most people just think of web sites as .com so if you
have a .net they might end up on the wrong site). Finding a good domain
name can be hard, so don't worry about taking to much time in finding the
perfect one.

3. Find a Design

Instead of trying to code your own site, try looking around for templates
that are relatively inexpensive. Many web hosts offer packages within
their plans for web site designs and plans. A good template might cost as
much as $100 but remember, by doing this yourself you are already saving
almost a thousand dollars, don't feel like you can't splurge on a design
you like.

4. Put it Online

This should be a piece of cake if you have purchased a design from your
host, but if you found one from a different site, it make take some
getting use to. You will need a FTP client (try SmartFTP, it's free for
personal use) to upload your files to your server. Customer support will
help you if you can't figure it out, but most web hosts give you all the
information you need with a step by step process as well.

Good luck with the next phase of your site, promotion and marketing.

Create A Web Site That Builds Trust - Web-Design

Create A Web Site That Builds Trust

If someone doesn't know you personally, will they trust you enough to do
business with you just by visiting your web site?

Most people view organizations - and web sites - they don't know with
great skepticism. Given all the identity theft and viruses running around,
people are understandably cautious and somewhat skeptical when they go to
a new web site.

What can you do?

Here are four tips on how to create a web site that builds trust:

1. Provide your contact information

You visitor wants to know that there is a real person somewhere behind
your web site. Ideally, put a real person's name, full postal address,
e-mail, and telephone number. Some of your visitors will want to
communicate with you. Make it easy for them to do so.

2. Post testimonials

You say: "Our web site is the greatest".

Your customer says: "Yea, right."

Every business toots its own horn, and most people don't believe a word of
it. But, when your customers sing your praises, it has much more
credibility. Make sure that you ask your customers for short, specific
testimonials. You can even ask a specific customer to speak of a
particular experience with your company with which they were pleased. The
more guidance you give folks in writing these the more helpful they will
be to your viewers since they are looking for others who have had dealing
with you like they may have.

Put these testimonials throughout your web site and include as much
contact information about that customer as they will allow. Ideally you
will want to put their picture, full name, and phone number or e-mail
address; however clearing it with them first is always a must. And as
mentioned in number 1 above, the more details you provide to show there is
a real person behind that testimonial, the credibility to will have to
your viewer.

3. Provide a guarantee

Who wants to get stuck making a bad purchase? Providing a guarantee helps
put your potential customers at ease and makes buying from you that much
more inviting. The longer and more iron-clad guarantees can't be beat. If
your competitors offer a 30 day guarantee with a restocking fee, why not
offer a 60 day guarantee with no fees?

4. Be nice

For goodness sake, be nice to people! Your potential customers don't know
as much about your product or service as you do. They may ask what seem
like dumb questions -- many times. It's ok. Answer them courtesly,
honestly, and promptly - even if you are having one of those weeks! Let's
face it, you are desiring that they be willing to fork over some of their
hard earned money to you so it is always to your advantage to entertain
what may seem like the most outrageous inquiries.

When you create a web site, make sure that you follow these four tips to
build trust. Building a genuine website is only half of the battle. Your
website will attract folks to your business. But, building trust,
confidence in your products and services, and, if you are lucky, a
business relationship with a person will keep them coming back. And that
is the whole idea!

Looking for a Web Design Company? Use a Web Design Directory - Web-Design

Looking for a Web Design Company? Use a Web Design Directory

Your business website tells a lot about your company. A poorly designed
website will have your visitors questioning the quality of your business.
A well thought out elegantly designed site would instill confidence in
your visitors that you are a credible business to deal with. There is a
saying in advertising, "It is better to not advertise than to advertise
poorly". The same holds true for web design.

There are so many Web Design companies now. How do you make an educated
decision on which one to choose? Like every market that is saturated, you
always see ads that read, "Hire us we are the best". Well how do you know
that statement is true? Wouldn't it be great if you had a resource
available to you that pre-screened Web Design Companies to narrow down
your choices? To answer that question, yes there is, use a Web Design
directory. Web Design directories are usually run by companies in the Web
Design Industry. Using their knowledge to pre-screen the Web Design
companies that submit their contact information to the directory insures
that only quality Web Design Companies are listed.

Most Web Design directories are categorized by region. Some use states,
some use countries all in hopes of making your search that much easier. If
you live in Alabama then you simply click the link that reads, "Alabama
Web Design". Some Web Design directories will also allow you the customer
to submit a quote request. Then they take your information and forward it
to Web Design Companies that meet your criteria. This can be very helpful,
as it eases the process of finding the perfect Web Design Company for your
project.

Along with a directory of different Web Design Companies, you may also
find helpful articles to educate yourself, and help make the decision
process a little easier. Look for articles that answer your questions,
"What is PHP", or "How do colors affect your visitors' experience".
Articles like these can give you a little incite as to what makes up a
high quality website.

Your business website is very important to help strengthen your image. It
is often the first impression a potential customer will have about your
company. Using a Web Design directory can ensure your visitors have a
positive first impression that causes them to contact you to do business.

Adem Martin del Campo has owned a Web Design Company for over 6 years, and
created a Web Design Directory to educate people, and help advance the Web
Design Industry. http://web-design.webhostinghunter.com/
